Starting Pay: $20-24/hour
At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary
Responsible for the timely preparation of quality documentation as well as the centralized funding and quality control/audit functions for consumer, small business and commercial loans once the executed documents have been imaged. The Loan Documentation and Funding Specialist must ensure that the bank is consistently adhering to loan policies and guidelines in addition to meeting all legal, regulatory and compliance requirements. This role will cross-train, assist and support other job functions as needed in order to foster and sustain a strong team environment.
Primary Accountabilities
- Receives, validates and completes complex loan documentation, funding and quality control research requests.
- Consistently demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the bank’s underwriting and documentation platforms. Seen as the expert and point of expertise both within and outside the department.
- Prepares timely, accurate consumer/commercial loan documents which meet the requirements as outlined in the credit approval, the bank’s loan policy and regulatory guidelines for new loan transactions, renewals, extensions and modifications.
- Performs a timely check of loan documents created by other Loan Documentation Specialists before they are released to the Markets.
- Escalates questionable transactions and reoccurring issues to management in a clear and timely manner. Verifies data held on the bank’s core application and any auxiliary systems to ensure all coding agrees with the credit approval and the supporting documentation held in the bank’s imaging system.
- Performs all tasks related to the controlled distribution of loan funds and collateral perfection on Consumer and Commercial Loans
- Observes all security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
- Consistently meets SLA timeframes.
- Identifies and electronically pulls documents from the bank’s underwriting platforms into the bank’s archive system as needed.
- Provides exceptional customer service to our customers and business partners.
- Trains others in the performance of Loan Documentation and Funding and acts as a mentor to new team members.
- Assists with the development and execution of onboarding and cross-training plans.
- Displays exceptional teamwork and contributes to a positive culture.
- The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
- May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree with 3-5 relevant banking experience and/or knowledge within a specific service/product line.
- Practical experience in loan documentation, loan compliance, lending, or a closely related field is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and use new software and programs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
