At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary
The Senior Wealth Advisor provides investment recommendations and advice to high value perspective and current clients. This role is responsible for serving high net worth clients, and organic growth of practice (AUM / Revenue). The Senior Wealth Advisor is responsible for championing the Midland brand, engaging in the community, and creating marketing events.
Primary Accountabilities
- Meets with and provides financial planning services for the high value clients within the book.
- Actively calls on high value prospects and clients of the Bank to market financial planning, trust and investment management services, as well as works with centers of influence to cultivate business.
- Conducts full needs assessment with current and potential customers and provides on-going, holistic advice and counsel.
- Recommends appropriate products and services to meet needs, based on objectives, tax and estate needs, risk tolerance and proper asset allocations.
- Responsible for growth in revenue and AUM.
- Runs and oversees the P&L for the group.
- Maintains contact with existing clients, beneficiaries, and referral sources on an on-going basis to identify new or additional sales opportunities.
- Represents the Bank in community organizations and activities to enhance the Bank’s image.
- Develops and maintains a referral network of internal and external sources for additional sales opportunities.
- Responsible for working with compliance to ensure all activities meet the requirements of state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Identifies and refers business to other areas within the Bank as appropriate.
- Works with marketing team in order to promote Midland’s Wealth Management services to include: community involvement, social media, client engagement events, etc.
- Acts as financial expert to our clients and employees staying abreast of industry and regulatory updates, the economy and financial markets.
- May serve as manager and /or supervisor for an assigned team as market opportunity and book of business grows to support Wealth Advisor(s) and Associate(s). Mentoring and empowering team members to achieve top performance and to grow professionally.
- The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
- May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, or equivalent work or education related experience.
- 8 years previous experience in investment management and/or financial advisory services with a demonstrated ability to develop manage and maintain client relationships.
- Needs to be licensed - Series 7 / 65 / Life Health Insurance.
- CFP designation preferred.
- Sales oriented, friendly and persuasive personality.
- Professionalism and courtesy in dealing with customers and bank employees.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Strong coaching and leadership skills.
- High degree of accuracy with attention to detail required.
- May mentor, lead or supervise others as part of this role.
