Job Title : Medical Assistant Certified

This position collaborates with staff within their practice or other professional disciplines within the affiliated medical groups as needed to achieve effective and efficient patient care delivery and desired patient outcomes.

Responsibilities :

• Performs various administrative and clinical duties under the direction of their assigned direct supervisor.
• Consistently confers with physicians, nursing, and other staff members to coordinate and schedule appointments of patients.
• Greets and prepares patients for examinations.
• Measures and records vital signs.
• Records patient interview, history, and chief complaint.
• Provides patient education regarding medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets.
• Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests.
• Assists physicians with exams.
• Performs phlebotomy and collection of lab specimens. Performs basic lab tests.
• Performs EKGs.
• Assists with X-ray and physician therapy procedures.
• Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization.
• Changes dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures, and performs first aid procedures.
• Uses CPR skills when necessary.
• Prepares accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.

Requirements :

• Medical Assistant Certification or Registration required.
• BLS certification required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

• Ability to perform well in stressful situations.
• Knowledge of healthcare systems operations, such as EMR and Practice Management.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
• Project Management.
• Vendor relations (for those MA's that are required to order office and clinical supplies).
• Knowledge of database management.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Skill in using computer programs and applications, including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.

Physical Demands :

• Carrying weight : 1-25 lbs. Frequently from 34% to 66%. 26-50 lbs. Occasionally from 2% to 33%.
• Pushing / pulling : 1-25 lbs. Seldom up to 2%. 100 lbs. Seldom up to 2%.
• Lifting - Height, Weight : Floor to Chest, 1-25 lbs. Occasional : from 2% to 33%. Floor to Waist, 1-25 lbs. Occasional : from 2% to 33%.

Salary range : $40,000 - $55,000 per year. Estimated salary based on location and experience.
