This position functions within the job description of the Registered Nurse at MyMichigan Medical Center - Midland and also possesses the knowledge to assess, implement and monitor the patient care for Invasive Imaging patients scheduled for a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures scheduled on the unit. Performs miscellaneous duties as required.
Responsibilities
(30%) Regularly assesses patient’s/client’s needs and provides skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician authorized plan of care, and accepted standards of nursing practice. -Communicates effectively with patients, families, and physicians to assure that appropriate care is provided.
(30%) Provides direct patient care, including medication administration, treatments, call lights, assisting with transfers, responding to alarms, etc. Provides sedation monitoring in accordance with hospital policy and documents appropriately.
(20%) Possesses a thorough knowledge of pre, intra and post procedure routine. Evaluates effectiveness of treatment plan and makes suggestions or participates in updating/revising the treatment plan in collaboration with other team members, utilizing current information to improve patient care.
(10%) Processes physician/provider orders and performs physician ordered care accurately, completely and in a timely manner.
(10%) Follows up regarding medication changes and order clarifications.

A ssesses both the physical and psychological needs of patients through completion of the nursing history and admission process. Initiates physician orders, completes appropriate consent forms and coordinates pre-procedural care with other hospital departments. Documents in accordance with hospital policy.
Possesses a thorough knowledge of pre, intra and post procedure routine. Initiates a teaching plan appropriate to the procedure and the patient’s level of understanding. Possesses a thorough knowledge of physician preference and routine. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and physicians to assure that appropriate care is provided.
Transfers patients, stocks supplies, and performs basic office functions.
Demonstrates an understanding of all medications administered for care of the patient. Provides sedation monitoring in accordance with hospital policy and documents appropriately.
Evaluates patient progress toward discharge and, if necessary, initiates additional interventions. Provides written discharge instructions with a complete knowledge of physician preference and discharge routine.
Maintains a therapeutic relationship with the patient, family and other health care providers to assure that patient care goals have been accomplished. Completes appropriate documentation.

Knowledge of the nursing techniques normally acquired through the completion of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing culminating in licensure in the State of Michigan.

Medical/surgical nursing experience and a basic knowledge of procedural nursing.

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
