Summary :
This position provides advanced emergency medical care to individuals in need, focusing on improving patient outcomes as trained and licensed by the State of Michigan.
Key Responsibilities :
Emergency Care (50%) : Independently formulate and initiate intervention plans for medical and traumatic emergencies. Perform invasive procedures such as pleural decompression, cricothyrotomy, endotracheal intubation, interosseous access, and intravenous access. Utilize non-invasive monitoring techniques like vital sign interpretation and cardiac rhythm analysis.
Patient Transfer Assessments (25%) : Assess and manage patients during inter-hospital transfers, utilizing various medical equipment to maintain optimal care.
Supervision (25%) : Oversee field medical management of rescue personnel, including collaboration with law enforcement and fire department staff.
Additional Duties :
Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes for all patients.
Generate public awareness and education programs regarding EMS services.
Evaluate and ensure the readiness and safety of emergency equipment and vehicles.
Maintain cleanliness and safety standards for EMS vehicles and stations.
Technology Proficiency : Demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows and participate in continued learning as required.
Qualifications :
Licensure : Must possess BLS, ACLS, and EMT-P certifications, with the ability to obtain PALS and PHTLS certifications within designated timeframes.
Education : High school diploma with two years of emergency education leading to licensure as a Paramedic. Experience in a medical center or similar healthcare setting is essential.
Skills : Strong knowledge of pre-hospital care, ability to function independently, excellent patient assessment and treatment planning skills, and effective communication abilities.
Physical and Mental Demands : Must be able to handle exposure to stressful situations, lift heavy weights (over 100 lbs occasionally), and possess overall dexterity for prolonged periods.
Working Conditions :
Must be adaptable to various situations that involve trauma, grief, and public contact. Personal protective equipment is required for safety.
