MyMichigan/Delta College and Mid-Michigan College Imaging Program Tuition Coverage Program Position Summary:
This position is designed for Delta College ultrasound students or Mid-Michigan College x-ray students currently enrolled in the Ultrasound or Radiography Program. Employees in this program will work as an Imaging Aid in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. The Imaging Aid role is to assist the diagnostic imaging staff in providing safe, high quality patient care. Employees will report directly to the imaging services manager, receiving high level oversight.
The purpose of this position is to augment both technical in and around imaging procedures. These duties will be under direct oversight by technical personell. The responsibility is to assist with patient care as it relates to procedure room turn around and department workflow. Duties include: Transporting patients to and from department, safely getting patients on and off imaging equipment, assist with general and interventional procedures, ordering and maintaining room stock, and other support duties as needed.
Responsibilities
(25%)* Stage patients for imaging procedures: Greet patients, if necessary have patient change into hospital gown, complete any clinical documentation, start IV when necessary.
(25%)* Transport patient to imaging procedure room and position on table, assist with patient during procedure as necessary.
(25%)* On completion of procedure, move patient to staging area, discontinue I.V., and document any necessary clinical information in Radiology Information System. Assist in preparing imaging procedure room for next case by cleaning, changing linen, and returning moveable equipment to proper storage location.
(25%)* Assist nursing and technical staff during invasive procedures.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Transport patients to and from imaging department.
Schedule MRI appointments as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
One to two years of experience in a clinical setting is required.
Excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure and time management skills required.
Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing as required Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan. I.V. set up skills preferred.
Three to four years experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
College medical terminology course preferred.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level:Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
