Responsible for timely billing of all payers and follow up for payment. Assists with processing of monthly statements, rebills or appeal claim rejections and answers client billing questions. Adhere to policies and procedures set by Agency and rules and regulations of the pay source.Responsibilities
(20%)* Processes and audits automated and hard copy billing statement.
(20%)* Regularly works aged accounts to ensure payment.
(20%)* Responds to client inquiries pertaining to insurance billing.
(20%)* Perform analysis of aged accounts receivable and unbilled revenue on a monthly basis.
(20%)* Responds to claim rejections or nonpayment by rebilling.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adheres to customer service standards.
Documentation and maintenance of files pertaining to the above activities.
Know and adhere to billing provisions of assigned payer(s).
Develop and maintain policies and procedures pertaining to position.
Reconcile monthly cash.
Establishes and maintains copies of agreements/contracts for assigned payer sources and knowing the provisions of these agreements.
Attend educational seminars as requested.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS
Two years in billing setting with some insurance experience and problem solving is required.
Four years in hospital setting with emphasis on insurance billing and computers is preferred.
Microsoft Office applications and computer experience with spreadsheet and/or databases required.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to speak, write, and understand the English language.
Ability to recognize needs and concerns of people and maintain constructive interpersonal relationships.
Ability to work independently, demonstrating problem solving and organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure of deadlines, changes in schedules, and office routine.
Four years in hospital setting with emphasis on insurance billing and computers is preferred. Medical terminology classes preferred.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
