Responsible for oversight of volunteer services at MyMichigan Medical Centers in Saginaw and Standish. Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining volunteer relationships and programs in Saginaw and Standish in collaboration with the volunteer programs across the health system.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(45%)* Plans, implements, evaluates and monitors all functions of the volunteer program for the MyMichigan Medical Centers in Saginaw and Standish in alignment with all volunteer programs at MyMichigan Health. Focusing on growth and recruitment for existing volunteer programs.
(40%)* Builds relationships with and supports volunteers in both service and fundraising activities. Works to streamline processes in departmental administration of volunteer service within health system structure.
(10%)* Assists with scheduling oversight and support for volunteers through volunteer management software.
(5%)* Assists with community/volunteer events.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees volunteer services at MyMichigan Medical Centers in Saginaw and Standish and provides additional support to volunteer services as identified by manager.
Develops and maintains a working knowledge of all volunteer service areas, programs, policies and procedures of the departments.
Communicates and promotes volunteer services to reflect the MyMichigan Health mission and standards of quality.
Ensures appropriate volunteer orientation practices and on-going education needs for volunteer program.
Coordinates onboarding appointments and prepares new volunteer files in compliance with policies.
Facilitates actual onboarding/orientation.
Supports gift shop as needed to include inventory management and expense/revenue in coordination with the manager.
Coordinates buying trips using sound business theory to ensure successful and profitable management.
Supports and provides assistance with volunteer led fundraisers in collaboration with the MyMichigan Health volunteer service practices.
Maintains tactful and effective communication with volunteers, the public and internal stakeholders.
Ensures budget compliance and provides ongoing information/communication to volunteers regarding expenses and revenues associated with the volunteer program.
Works closely with MyMichigan Health Foundation in monitoring volunteer-directed donations and approved expenditures.
Supports volunteers in their role in achieving high standards and service quality expectations through communication of policies and practices and coaching/education.
Supports volunteer scheduling and new volunteer roles as appropriate, using volunteer software program under the direction of the manager.
Participates in disaster preparedness exercises and, should an actual disaster occur, follows the communications plan and serves as a liaison to the team.
Provides general assistance to the volunteer services team to support departmental goals.
Uses innovative reminders and refreshers to keep customer service improvement a priority.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with volunteer populations.
Demonstrated ability to organize and motivate others.
Computer literacy.
Experience in leading volunteers and/or other volunteer experience preferred.
Ability to work remotely and independently with offsite leadership and to build relationships and show recognition of volunteer workforce.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Light . Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
