A Day In the Life as a Vice President of Risk Management
The VP of Risk Management will be instrumental in developing and overseeing our credit union's Enterprise Risk Management Program. This leader will establish policies, processes, and strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the organization. Working collaboratively with senior leadership, the VP will safeguard the credit union's assets, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and lead a dedicated Risk Management Department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive risk management program, covering operational, compliance, financial, and strategic risks.
- Overseeing internal controls, audits, regulatory examinations, and BSA compliance.
- Managing vendor due diligence, contract reviews, and legal requests.
- Conducting IT and physical security assessments.
- Providing guidance on risk management practices to staff at all levels.
As the program grows, this role will transition oversight of compliance, BSA, and internal audit functions to the Risk Management Department, with collaboration and input from senior leadership.
What Are We Looking For?
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience: 5-8 years of leadership experience in risk management, compliance, or audit.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent certifications in risk management or related fields.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of NCUA regulations, BSA, and audit requirements.
- Expertise in internal controls, IT security assessments, and vendor due diligence.
- Exceptional analytical, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
How is the Work Schedule?
The Vice President of Risk Management position is a full time role, working typically 40 hours weekly.
