What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Clerk position at MidSouth Electric Co-op?
As an Accounting Clerk, you will support the Accounting Department by assisting in the accounts payable process, ensuring work orders are processed in a timely manner, preparing monthly and weekly reports, and other duties as assigned. This role requires attention to detail, timeliness, efficiency, and customer service while maintaining the standards outlined by Mid-South Electric Cooperative.
What You Will Bring to the Table:
- Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent required. Associates or Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field a plus.
- Experience: Prior accounts payable experience is a plus. Previous electric utility accounting experience or familiarity with Rural Utilities Services (RUS) Uniform System strongly preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered for all applicants with a minimum of a high school diploma.
- Strong Organization Skills: Organize invoices for multiple companies in a workflow system to be approved for payment on a weekly basis. Coordinate with other MidSouth Accountants to complete work orders in a timely manner. This position requires the ability to organize workloads and establish priorities to meet deadlines.
- Communication Skills: This position works closely with the Accounts Payable Coordinator to process weekly check runs. This position works closely with Accountants and other departments to manage the Work Order process. The ability to maintain professional working relationships with internal and external customers is crucial.
- Problem Solver: Assists Cooperative employees in researching or obtaining information pertaining to accounting records that will help them manage their areas of responsibility.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, and the use of computers in general.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and compile reports.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or part of a team, as needed.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a high-energy, fast paced environment.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License: You must maintain a good driving record measured by MidSouth Electric Co-op’s criteria.
