Communication Fiber Splicer

Job Overview
​M​idsouth Utility Group is looking to add a few experienced fiber splicers to our team. They shall be responsible for​ proper preparation and splicing of fiber optic cable within a telecommunications system. ​The position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications network structure​, familiarity with fiber optic cable, splice enclosures​, and the functionality of each​. Must have the ability to use OTDR and fusion splicing equipment​, to read fiber ​prints, to interpret and analyze data​, and​ the ability to identify and troubleshoot problems

Duties

• Perform fiber splicing and termination for various telecommunications projects.
• Conduct field service work to ensure optimal performance of telecommunication systems.
• Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during installations.
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and meet deadlines.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in fiber splicing and telecommunications installation preferred.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely in various environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in all tasks.
• Proficient use of hand tools and power tools related to the installation process.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients.
• A valid driver's license is required for travel to job sites.

Job Type: Full-time

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
