Job Purpose:
The primary role of the Compliance Officer is to manage the compliance function of the bank. The Compliance Officer will perform assigned duties in accordance to Midstates Bank's Core Values and will adhere to the Quality Service Standards.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct research to identify new regulations passed by state or federal governing bodies.
- Review internal bank policies to ensure they align with regulations and implement policy updates as needed.
- Work with COO and affected staff to ensure proper implementation of established compliance policies.
- Ensure compliance with new products, new services as well as updated regulatory reporting requirements including 1071 requirements.
- Assist all areas of the bank affected by changing laws, regulations, or policies to ensure that appropriate changes are implemented, trained upon, and tested in a timely manner.
- Initiate or recommend an investigative process in response to complaints of policy or procedural violation
- Carry out assessments to identify areas of potential compliance risks in order to implement preventive/corrective strategies to address compliance issues
- Lead quarterly compliance meetings and provide reports to keep informed of compliance operations.
- Oversee compliance of the Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering Program
- Organize compliance programs to educate bank staff on recent and already existing compliance requirements
- Participate in seminars, conferences, and workshops to improve job knowledge.
- Participate in civic activities to promote growth and development of the community and a positive image for the bank.
- Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of bank administration, lending, operations, and products/services.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage time and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to gather, organize, and interpret data while exercising good judgement when assessing risk.
- Strong attention to detail with an investigative approach and have the ability to formulate independent preliminary conclusions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to bank policy and procedures.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills to include written, verbal, and interpersonal skills when communicating with others.
- Ability to use sound judgment and handles difficult situations with tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Demonstrates leadership skills when working toward the Bank's strategic goals.
- Must be able to work under pressure and exhibit good judgment in making decisions pertaining to the overall health of the bank and its employees.
- Experience in the areas of BSA SAR, CTR, 3.14(a) & 3.14(b) filings preferred.
- Experience using dynamic BSA/AML monitoring systems preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance, accounting, or related discipline
- Professional certification (CRCM, ACAMS) preferred
- Minimum of 5 years compliance and BSA/AML compliance experience required.
- Personnel management experience preferred.
Salary : $84,000 - $95,000
