Job Title: General Laborer Department: Field

Position Type: Full Time Hours: 40

Job Summary: The general laborer will safely and efficiently remove and prepare rail to various sizes for pick-up.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Adheres to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes
• Attends daily rail briefing and follows all FRA guide lines, subject to change at any time
• PPE must be always worn on railroad property, according to FRA, Federal Railroad Association
• Safely removing rail from inactive railroad
• Marking and torching rail to various sizes/ preparing rail for pick-up
• Immediately report malfunctioning equipment
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Building and maintaining positive working relationships with coworkers and supervisors
• Ability to effectively handle high-pressure situations
• Familiarity with a torch, hand and power tools and standard equipment care
• Ability to travel regularly; out for 3 weeks home for 1 week and repeat

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must have a valid driver’s license, clean Motor Vehicle Report: insurable
• 1 year experience torching rail

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
• Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
• Able to bend, lift, push, and pull, as necessary
• Able to lift to 75 pounds

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,500.00 - $50,000.00 per year

• 10 hour shift
