The Lab Manager is primarily responsible for
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Organize, supervise, and schedule the daily operations and activities of lab technicians.
- Conduct and administer quality assurance and quality control testing.
- Review, update, and maintain policies and procedures as required by all applicable regulatory agencies.
- Train and develop lab personnel and provide coaching and mentoring to enhance individual and team performance.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain lab equipment.
- Maintain inventory of lab chemicals, gases, and consumables.
- Develop, implement, and maintain lab procedures and calibration methods.
- Continually strive to minimize equipment failures and downtime.
- Control costs within budget.
Experience & Education Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or equivalent industry laboratory experience
- Solid understanding of laboratory procedures and techniques (UOP, ASTM methods)
- Experience operating /maintaining laboratory equipment (ie: gas chromatographs, IC, and water analysis)
- Methods: GCs – UOP 899, 960, ASTM D1945, 2597. Total Sulfur – D6667, IC – D7359. Water content - Coulometric Karl Fischer.
- Metrohm – free Alkalinity, ph. HACH Water quality – various, Mini Vap. – RVP, VP. Inline GC C6 analyzers.
- Ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute many tasks at once.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work well with others.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must be detail oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining goals/tasks.
- Should have good PC skills to include all MS Office products.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers and vendors.
