What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rail Terminal Operator III (Lead) position at Midstream LPG Partnership?
This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating and maintain rail & terminal process equipment, off-loading rail cars and offloading/loading trucks containing Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) in accordance with federal, state and Company guidelines.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Work closely with Rail Supervisor, Transportation and Marketing groups to develop daily plans and goals to safely, compliantly, and effectively achieve all scheduled rail & truck loading and unloading.
- Oversee and direct work of Rail Operators to safely and effectively meet all goals and objectives.
- Verify tank car or truck load numbers to ensure car placement accuracy based on written or verbal instructions.
- Conduct tasks in accordance with facility SOPs to complete the loading/unloading of railcars and transport trailers.
- Complete multiple forms and all paperwork/documentation related to rail/transport trailer activities.
- Operate pumps, compressors, vaporizers, valves, and other unloading equipment as required.
- Monitor product movement to and from storage tanks, including coordinating activities with other departments to ensure constant and safe product flow.
- Record operating data such as products and quantities pumped, gauge readings, and operating times manually or with computers.
- Ensure conditions and weights of transport trailers meet federal, state, local and corporate standards prior to departure from the facility.
- Monitor all equipment within the facility for mechanical integrity; perform basic maintenance such as pump lubrication, gasket replacement, and similar activities as required.
- Attend and comply with all required training at the facility.
- Responsible for the day to day safe and efficient operation of the facility while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, local and corporate standards.
- Perform railcar movement and spotting utilizing locomotive or other type of railcar mover as required.
- Develop and manage site staff work schedules to maximize efficiency and coverage for facility operations.
- Provides onsite Rail Operator field training, skill developments & ultimately Operator qualifications of terminal staff. Provides site orientations and Transport Driver training and qualification for terminal truck loading & unloading.
- Conducts periodic inspections of the terminal and of rail and rail switches, oversees and directs contractors in the preventive maintenance and repairs of the terminal and rail systems to ensure safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant operations.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- 2 years of rail loading experience required.
- Ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute many tasks at once
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Work in outside weather conditions with flammable materials, sometimes in high precarious places while exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Should have at least 5 years of work experience at a rail loading facility.
- Must be able to meet DOT/FRA requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to work extended operating hours as required, rotating 24-hour call out (including nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Must be detail oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining goals/tasks.
- Should have good PC skills to include all MS Office products.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with operations staff, management, contractors and internal support groups
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
