What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Field Technician position at Midstream Operators LLC?
Hierarchy Breakdown:
Reports to: The I/E Superintendent located in the Field Office.
Works Directly Alongside: With various customer and support elements including Automation, Measurement, Engineering, Production, Operations, and other IT support staff.
Basic job responsibilities include but are not limited to support day to day maintenance, and development of Automation Systems for field locations including well sites, Amine Plant, Compressor Stations and Tank Batteries. Troubleshooting communication issues on various SCADA systems, as well as maintaining the PM schedule for assigned fields. This position may require to be a part of on-call rotation; when on call it is based on 24/7 support. May be times when this individual is called to assist when not on-call as part of the team.
Instrument/Electrical Field Technician will have Knowledge and Ability to Perform the Following:
- Expert level technical skills with troubleshooting instrumentation, Electrical, High Voltage, and PLC equipment.
- Able to utilize technical skills to troubleshoot pipeline instrumentation, electronics, and electrical components.
- Bringing in data from well sites, compressor sites, plants and any field automation into SCADA and alarming systems for alarm history/trending and display.
- Able to do electrical equipment installations, calibrations, inspections, and troubleshooting tasks to minimize production impacts and enhance the reliability of the operation.
- Troubleshoot Compressor and panels at a pipeline station.
- Install wiring and conduit as needed.
- Operate and perform activities in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures. (Federal, State, and local policies and procedures.
- Will lead all facility electrical, grounding, end device, commissioning including loop checks.
- Install wiring and conduit as needed.
- Recognize malfunctions in individual equipment and perform maintenance as necessary to correct problems.
- Is self-motivated managing priorities as they change regularly to the field’s needs.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Experience with Rosemount, Transmitters, TREX, and Hart Devices.
- Service Maintenance Instrumentation/Electrical Compressor Stations
- Field Tech responsibilities with PLC’s
- Experience with installing and troubleshooting Coriolis liquid meters is preferred.
- Experience with troubleshooting Serial and Ethernet radio systems
- A working knowledge of control circuits in PLC, Switches and Overload Relay
- Must be willing to undergo Background check and driving record check.
- Must be willing and able to pass DOT drug screening / physical.
- A minimum of 5-year automation experience is required.
- A minimum of 5-years PLC Programming experience in Oil and Gas field operations.
- A minimum of 5-years industrial electrical experience is required.
- Associates Degree or Certificate in Instrumentation Technology or Automation is preferred.
- Can perform electrical maintenance & construction fieldwork
- Is proficient with construction tasks in Oil & Gas processing facilities & well sites
- Is willing to work flexible hours
- Is a "self-starter" and can be productive without immediate supervision
- Has a "Safety-First" mindset
- Has current Safe Land, H2S Clear, and First Aid certifications
- Has a valid driver's license
- Licensed with the Electrical Bureau of New Mexico, Journeyman Electrician with a valid New Mexico Journeyman License
