Job Title: Assistant Teacher
Reports to: Lead Guide
Employee Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Daily Schedule: Full-time: Monday - Friday - time varies based on position
(7:30am - 4:30 pm | 8:00am - 5:00pm | 8:15am - 5:15pm | 8:30am - 5:30pm)
Salary Range: $16.50 - 18.50/hour - BOE
Midtown Montessori Academy is currently seeking full-time Toddler and Primary Assistants to join our team of dedicated educators who share a love and respect for children ages 15 months – 6 years old. We have positions becoming available at both our Sloan’s Lake (West Denver/Wheat Ridge) and Midtown (North Denver) campuses. We also have a 3rd campus set to open November 2022!

General Duties:
Assist lead teacher in implementing the Montessori pedagogical approach in the classroom
Organize and implement art and craft projects for the children under the guidance of the lead
Manage daily transitions with the children using loving guidance and firm expectations
Take direction from the lead teacher and follow through
Ask questions and request guidance any time it is necessary
Model kindness, responsibility, and peaceful interactions for the children
Refer all significant parent questions and concerns to the lead teacher
Perform daily classroom maintenance duties such as snack preparation and disinfecting materials
Work with leadership to develop an individual professional development plan
Attend all staff meetings and teacher work days
The Ideal Candidate:
Appreciates and respond positively to guidance and feedback from team members
Is willing to commit to the school for the full year
Has initiative and curiosity, including a willingness to ask questions
Is joyful, reliable, committed, energetic, patient and detail oriented
Understands the importance of professionalism in the school setting
Is comfortable working with children ages 8 weeks to 6 years old, including bathroom assistance
Is able to easily bend, squat, lift, climb, carry and sit on the floor for extended periods
Understands and can explain developmentally appropriate practice at the preschool level
Essential Skills & Requirements:
Meets all state standards for early childhood teacher.
Available to work 5 days per week M-F (full time)
Full Time: 7:30am - 4:30pm, 8:00am - 5:00 pm OR 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
CPR, First Aid, Universal Precautions certifications currently updated
MMA can provide training prior to start date.
Strong work history and good references
Experience in an early childhood classroom
Montessori experience a plus
Professional appearance and attitude
College degree preferred but not required
Criminal record that does not include any felonies, any crimes against children, any violent crimes, a pattern of misdemeanor convictions, or any conviction of any sort in the past 24 months.
Able to lift and turn carrying at least 40 lbs. and sit on a tile floor for at least 60 mins.
