Duties
- Assist in preparing the procedure room for in-office surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
- Triage patient phone calls/portal questions.
- Process lab requisitions for cultures and/or pathology and monitor for results.
- Assist with scheduling patient surgeries, procedures, testing, etc.
- Obtain thorough medical history, vital signs, etc. during patient appointments.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure effective communication and patient service before, during, and after surgery.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and infection control measures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Surgical Medical Assistant or in a similar role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Experience with Athena EMR.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile techniques.
- Strong customer service/phone skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to multitask.
- High school diploma/EGD
- Certification or training in medical assistance or related fields is preferred.
