Description
The Service Porter is responsible for keeping service areas clean, orderly, and safe for all employees and customers. The Service Porter will be responsible for moving vehicles, equipment, and parts as required to assist technicians, service advisors, and office personnel. The Service Porter is also responsible for general cleaning of indoor and outdoor areas to keep the dealership clean and safe for employees and customers alike. The function is performed during normal business hours.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Use personal protective gear to ensure the safe performance of essential job functions (safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, seat belts, ear plugs, etc).
- Drive customer and company vehicles on and off service drive and parking lot.
- Move heavy equipment, parts, or supplies, either manually or by using a hand truck or forklift.
- Clean and organize workbenches, shop floors, and restrooms to maintain a safe working environment within the service area.
- Clean service shop floors by sweeping, mopping, and/or scrubbing.
- Gather and empty trash in service areas.
- Clean windows, glass, or mirrors in the service area.
- Clean and supply restrooms within the Service area.
- Complete Daily Task lists, as assigned.
- Notify managers of safety concerns in service areas.
- Other duties as assigned by a manager.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Missouri Class E Driver’s License, or equivalent
- Good driving record
- High School Diploma
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will lift parts weighing up to 100 pounds, occasionally above the head. The Service Porter will move throughout the interior and exterior areas of the Service Departments for his/her entire shift performing the essential functions of the job: standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching, crouching, and lifting, regardless of weather conditions. Will be exposed to outside elements (heat, cold), noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous conditions and materials. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, respirator, gloves, safety glasses, harnesses, seat belts, and/or hearing protection.
