Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Cargo Claims Adjuster to handle and resolve complex cargo claims with efficiency and expertise. This role requires a deep understanding of commercial trucking policies, cargo loss evaluations, liability assessments, and negotiations with brokers/claimants. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in handling motor truck cargo claims and a strong ability to manage claims from initial report through resolution while ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.

- Claims Handling & Investigation:
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience handling commercial motor truck cargo claims.
- In-depth knowledge of cargo coverage, Carmack Amendment, inland marine policies, and transportation law.
- Strong investigative, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Experience working with TPAs, attorneys, salvage vendors, and forensic experts.
- Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Adjuster license (if required by state).
- Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Evaluate, investigate, and process commercial motor truck cargo claims to determine liability and coverage.
- Gather evidence, including driver statements, bills of lading, delivery receipts, repair estimates, and expert reports.
- Coordinate inspections of damaged cargo and work with third-party vendors, adjusters, and legal counsel when necessary.
- Negotiation & Settlement:
- Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, and insurance representatives while ensuring cost-effective claim resolutions.
- Provide clear and detailed claim denials when coverage does not apply.
- Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities to recover claim costs.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain thorough documentation of claim files, adhering to industry standards, company guidelines, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FMCSA, DOT, Carmack Amendment).
- Stay updated on federal and state regulations affecting motor truck cargo claims.
- Ensure compliance with internal claims procedures and best practices.
- Customer & Stakeholder Communication:
- Provide excellent customer service and timely updates to policyholders, brokers, and other stakeholders.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
