Job Title: Truancy Clerk
Reports to: Truancy Administrator
Dept./School: Truancy Department

Primary Purpose:
To provide support services to facilitate the efficient operation of the Truancy Department by maintaining accurate records for Truancy Pre-Court and County Court which includes scheduling, reviewing students’ attendance, and preparing documents for Pre-Court and County Court. Assist with all Statement of Residency registration and maintain accurate records for MISD Statement of Residency.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Notary Public
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Communication Skills
Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases, as well as word processing
Proficient typing, keyboarding, file maintenance, and 10-key skills
Ability to meet established deadlines
Proficient using all MISD student record software
Experience:
Two years data entry experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Records and Reports
1. Collect student information to process student’s folders that will appear in Court.
2. Prepare reports for campuses that will help administrators identify students for pre-court and/or county court.
3. Maintain physical and computerized records, including student interventions given during pre-court.
4. Monitor student’s attendance after cases are dismissed.
5. Assist parents, students, and faculty with questions regarding student attendance.
6. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents as required for Statement of Residency and Truancy.
7. Compile and audit reports related to proof of residency; complete proof of residency checks as required.
8. Verify and obtain proof of residency during annual student registration.
9. Record and maintain a database of MISD Statement of Residency information.
10. Attend district training related to attendance standards set forth by the State of Texas.
Communication:
1. Receive and direct incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
2. Relay information regarding Truancy and Statement of Residency to appropriate campuses and departments.
Other:
1. Assist truancy office or campus offices as needed.
2. Maintain confidentiality.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping.
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional districtwide and statewide travel.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
