What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advanced Mfg Weld/Assembly Eng position at Midway Products Brand?
POSITION SUMMARY
• Develop weld and assembly processes and supporting documentation.
• Complete assigned estimates for weld/assembly operations for cost estimating department
• Work with customer engineering to provide design direction for feasibility issues
• Support other cross functional teams as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Give customer design input to eliminate weld and assembly manufacturing issues.
• Attend meetings at customer site/web as required.
• Develop weld and assembly processes with required cycle times as guidance for quoting.
• Create process sheets, layouts, and presentations as required for line-ups and reviews.
• Work with the estimating department to review part feasibility.
• Assist, as required, the sales team in the development of new sales opportunities.
• Work with manufacturing processes team to develop optimized weld/assembly processes by utilizing lean manufacturing principles.
• Responsible for processing engineering change quotes for weld and assembly processes.
• Follow weld/assembly projects from quoting phase to launch phase when assigned.
• Keep abreast of new technologies available to reduce cost and remain competitive.
• Work in partnership with the other departments to significantly improve the tooling, equipment, and processes delivered to our plants.
• Assist in developing and maintaining world class weld and assembly equipment build standards.
• Perform other essential functions as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Four year Technical Degree preferred with 5yrs experience or related 10yrs experience in weld & assembly.
• Must have assembly processing and feasibility experience.
• Experience in assembly equipment at integrator with project management, estimating, and design experience.
• Ability to communicate with customer representing Midway Products Group, Inc. best interest.
SPECIAL SKILLS
• Excellent written and communication skills.
• Computer literate; basic knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Auto-cad, and 3D viewer software.
• Must be able to work at the customer site without supervision; sometimes involving demanding situations.
• Clear understanding of Robotic and Non Robotic Automation, Weld, and Laser processes.
• Must be able to read and apply standard GD&T practices.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Both normal office and industrial plant environments.
• The ability to travel to customers, suppliers, and plants as required.
• In traveling you may encounter normal industrial environment: i.e., hazards from wet, humid conditions, oil, smoke, heavy industrial, robots, laser, arc flash, loud noises, dust and fumes.
• Use of MPG personal protection equipment to protect from hazards and conditions typically associated with a manufacturing environment.
