About the position
The Alternator & Starter Rebuilder Technician at P&G Keene is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding alternators and starters to meet industry standards and ensure customer satisfaction. This role requires a strong technical background in automotive electrical systems and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Diagnose electrical issues in alternators and starters, including testing key components.
Disassemble faulty alternators and starters, assess parts condition, and determine necessary repairs or replacements.
Rebuild alternators and starters to manufacturer specifications, ensuring proper cleaning, testing, and reassembly.
Perform thorough quality checks on rebuilt alternators and starters to ensure they meet performance standards.
Conduct final inspections and electrical tests to ensure optimal operation and defect-free products.
Identify and source necessary replacement parts for alternators and starters.
Maintain an organized inventory of parts and materials for rebuilding.
Stay up-to-date with new technologies and repair techniques in alternator and starter systems.
Troubleshoot issues during the rebuilding process and develop solutions for improvement.
Collaborate with team members to enhance rebuilding procedures and reduce turnaround time.
Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Accurately document repairs and rebuilds in the company's tracking system.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in automotive repair is a plus.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in alternator and starter rebuilding or related automotive electrical field preferred.
Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, particularly alternators and starters.
Proficiency in using hand tools, electrical testing equipment, and rebuilding machinery.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and service manuals.
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
Good communication skills and strong ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Nice-to-haves
Certification in automotive repair or electrical systems (e.g., ASE certification).
Experience in a high-volume rebuild or manufacturing environment.
