Job Summary
Solicits, develops, originates, maintains, and services profitable high-quality consumer and real estate lending relationships with customers while adhering to all lending policy and compliance guidelines. Represents Midwest Bank through community involvement.
Essential Functions
- Solicits new consumer and real estate lending customers by professionally developing and maintaining external and internal referral sources.
- Manages existing relationships by proactively seeking additional business, promptly working future maturities, and participating in annual review process to determine if additional lending needs are present.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationship with retail, commercial, and investment areas to build strong customer relationships. Maintains product knowledge in a manner that allows for qualified referrals to other areas.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of Midwest Bank’s lending policy and credit administration procedures and performs all responsibilities according to these guidelines.
- Interviews loan applicants completing all required documentation as required by compliance and lending policy guidelines.
- Completes a thorough analysis of all new credit requests, credit changes, renewals, and annual relationship reviews, through collection of current financial information, financial statements, and/or tax returns. When required, prepares and presents accurate and effective credit presentations.
- Approves lending requests up to established lending limits in accordance with lending policy.
- Assigns risk ratings according to policy. Proactively identifies and manages ongoing risk through careful review of financial statements, tax returns, overdraft reports, and/or past due loan reports. Proactively recommends risk rating changes when analysis merits.
- Participates, on a rotating schedule as required by policy, as a member of Officer Loan Committee reviewing and analyzing credit presented.
- Ensures proper loan documentation is completed in accordance with all required compliance and lending policy guidelines.
- Completes file comments and annual reviews of credit as required by lending policy.
- Monitors loans in repayment and actively collects past due loans. When necessary, may act as a workout lender with Senior Management and Customer to minimize losses.
- Participates in various community and business organizations and events.
- Responsible for protecting the privacy of sensitive business and customer information by following all confidentiality, security, and safeguarding customer information policies and control procedures.
- Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Business or Finance desirable. Banking experience may be substitute for education.
Critical Skills: Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. High customer service values.
Other Information
Physical Requirements: The ability to sit for extended periods of time, ambulatory skills sufficient to visit branch locations and customer’s place of business and/or home, the ability to stand, walk, and manipulate (carry, lift, move) light to medium weights of 10 to 50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and computer monitor, operate equipment and read technical information. Must possess valid and current driver’s license and ability to drive motor vehicle.
Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in bank office environment and/or customer’s place of business and/or home.
