Job Summary
Responsible for processing customer transactions, balancing cash drawer, and completing assigned teller duties. Provides quality service to new and existing customers and actively provides referrals of potential customers to personal bankers, residential real estate, and business representatives.
Essential Functions
- Handle customer account transactions which may include verifying cash and endorsements, completing the correct tickets and accurately dispersing cash, processing deposits, withdrawals, and payments, issuing receipts, and cashing checks.
- Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete Hold Notices.
- Answer basic customer inquiries regarding account information, interest rates, service charges, and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
- Identify customer needs and offer appropriate bank products and services.
- Keeping informed on CD Rates to help customers.
- Process cash advances on credit cards.
- Sell cashier’s checks and money orders.
- Count and roll loose coins.
- Identify counterfeit currency.
- Redeem U. S. Savings Bonds.
- Exchange Canadian currency.
- Balance drawer daily.
- Complete Currency Transactions Reports and Suspicious Activity reports and maintain Currency Transaction logs when applicable.
- Receive and process Stop Payments, telephone transfers, check reorders, wire transfers, and address changes.
- Process daily bank by mail transactions and night deposit transactions.
- Order and perform maintenance ATM/Debit cards for customers.
- Take mail to post office.
- Ensure teller station is properly supplied.
- Responsible for protecting the privacy of sensitive business and customer information by following all confidentiality, security, and safeguarding customer information policies and control procedures.
- Fill in as back up duties to the teller supervisor when they are out of the office
- Opening/Closing of cash and night deposits vaults
- Answering customer phone calls
- Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma. Cash handling experience is required. Experience working in a banking environment desirable.
Critical Skills: Basic math skills and/or knowledge of accounting principles are required. Excellent customer service skills. Strong communication skills. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and under pressure. Must have familiarity working with Windows based software systems.
