Job Summary
Responsible for processing customer transactions, balancing cash drawer, and completing assigned teller duties. Provides quality service to new and existing customers and actively provides referrals of potential customers to customer service representatives, loan officers, and investment representatives.
Essential Functions
- Handle customer account transactions which may include verifying cash and endorsements, accurately dispersing cash, processing deposits, withdrawals, and payments, issuing receipts, and cashing checks.
- Answer incoming phone calls and provide the necessary service requested on the phone call as much as possible, thereby eliminating the need to transfer the call.
- Answer customer inquiries regarding account information, interest rates, service charges, account histories, online banking, debit cards, and other retail services while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
- Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete Hold Notices.
- Order and perform maintenance ATM/Debit cards for customers.
- Inputs and reviews needed information for processing wires following all applicable procedures.
- Complete Currency Transactions Reports and Suspicious Activity Reports and maintain Currency Transaction logs when applicable.
- Receive and process Stop Payments, telephone transfers, check reorders, and address changes.
- Identify customer needs and offer appropriate bank products and services.
- Process daily bank by mail transactions.
- Process cash advances on credit cards.
- Sell cashier’s checks and money orders.
- Count and roll loose coins.
- Identify counterfeit currency.
- Redeem U. S. Savings Bonds.
- Exchange Canadian currency.
- Balance drawer daily.
- Balance vault daily, as assigned.
- Fill and balance the ATM on a weekly basis or as needed.
- Take mail to post office.
- Ensure teller station is properly supplied.
- Responsible for protecting the privacy of sensitive business and customer information by following all confidentiality, security, and safeguarding customer information policies and control procedures.
- Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma. Cash handling experience is required. Experience working in a banking environment desirable.
Critical Skills: Basic math skills and/or knowledge of accounting principles are required. Excellent customer service skills. Strong communication skills. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and under pressure. Must have familiarity working with Windows based software systems.
