What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist position at Midwest Cardiovascular Institute?
Nature of Duties:
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic imaging using radionuclides to assist in patient diagnosis or treatment. They ensure high-quality images for licensed practitioners, provide patient care, and follow medical ethics to complete procedures successfully.
Qualifications:
- Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners.
- Registered by ARRT and/or NMTCB.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong communication skills.
Specific Duties:
- Review and document patient history for procedure relevance.
- Prepare and instruct patients to minimize anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals/medications per practitioner orders during procedures.
- Operate imaging and radiation detection equipment to perform procedures.
- Position patients for optimal imaging and immobilize as needed.
- Apply radiation safety to minimize exposure to patient and staff.
- Evaluate and ensure technical quality of images.
- Address physical and emotional patient needs during procedures.
- Perform venipunctures and provide BLS when necessary.
- Assist in staffing other clinics and departments as needed.
- Perform other duties to support CIS’s mission and patient care philosophy.
Compensation: Starting pay will be $42.7500. Will commensurate with experience.
