Overview
The Youth Shared Living Provider plays a vital role in offering compassionate, structured care to youth in a shared living environment. This position focuses on supporting highly behavioral and Developmental Disabilities (DD) eligible youth by providing a stable, nurturing home. Providers are required to participate in and complete foster care classes to ensure they are fully equipped to meet the complex emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs of the youth they support. Duties
- Provide consistent, trauma-informed direct support to youth with complex behavioral needs and developmental disabilities.
- Assist with daily living activities, personal care, and skill development routines.
- Prepare nutritious meals that align with each youth’s dietary needs and health goals.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized living environment following hygiene and safety protocols.
- Administer medications accurately and in accordance with healthcare guidelines.
- Document youth behavior and health status, reporting significant changes to the care team.
- Facilitate recreational and therapeutic activities that encourage personal development and social interaction.
- Teach and support life skills, including budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, behavior specialists, and family members to implement and follow individualized care and behavior support plans.
Qualifications
- Must participate in and complete foster care classes as part of the onboarding and training process.
- Experience working with youth with high behavioral support needs and/or developmental disabilities.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and positive behavioral support strategies.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and a commitment to maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
- Skills in preparing meals that meet specific dietary needs and restrictions.
- Prior experience in home-based care, behavioral health, or residential settings is a plus.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred or must be obtained during training.
- Ability to identify and appropriately respond to behavioral and emotional distress.
- Physical ability to assist youth with mobility needs, including lifting if required.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary support team.
