Job Summary
The Construction Project Manager will oversee all phases of commercial building construction projects, including ground-up and renovation projects. This role is responsible for estimating, pre-planning, budgeting, project quality, safety, and on-schedule delivery. The Construction Project Manager will lead and coordinate project teams, manage budgets and schedules, ensure compliance with safety standards, and maintain project documentation.

- Oversee all phases of commercial building construction, including ground-up and renovation projects.
- Contribute to business development efforts including, qualification and scope discussions, requests for proposal responses, and interviews
- Lead and coordinate project teams, including consultants, designers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure projects are completed within financial parameters. Identify and address potential cost overruns.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and proactively managing any delays.
- Work closely with subcontractors to create weekly work schedules and ensure project goals are met.
- Review monthly invoices and oversee documentation and approval processes to ensure timely project funding.
- Represent Midwest Construction Group in subcontract negotiations.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance and strictly enforce jobsite safety standards in accordance with OSHA policies and protocols.
- Maintain project documentation, including project reports, photos, weekly progress reports, etc.
- Submit timely reports and photos for each project, including weekly progress reports, change order work, and “as built” drawings.
- Communicate regularly with team members to ensure project success.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and budgets.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, stakeholders, and team members to provide updates and address any concerns.
- Implement quality control procedures to ensure all work meets required standards and specifications.
- Ensure all necessary permits are obtained and that the project complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Allocate resources efficiently, including labor, materials, and equipment, to optimize project performance.
- Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the construction process.
- Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Incorporate sustainable building practices and materials to minimize environmental impact.
Position Requirements
- General knowledge of all aspects of construction, including, but not limited to site work, concrete, masonry, steel erection, finishes, and MEP’s.
- Understanding of safety rules and regulations
- Knowledge of building codes
- Understanding of project accounting and subcontracting
Work Environment/Travel
The responsibilities of this position involve physical activities including standing, lifting (up to 50 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and twisting. This position is required to travel to project sites, estimated 80% of the time.
Preferred Education and Experience
- 10 years of experience managing commercial construction projects.
- B.S. degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or advanced training in construction-related Project Management through accredited sources.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, working with subcontractors and owners while maintaining project profitability.
- Willingness to work varying shifts or irregular hours as necessary.
- Familiarity with architectural, MEP, and furniture drawings, and knowledge of construction terms, materials, and methods.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, with no more than two moving violations or a record of a DUI within the past 7 years.
