What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Ophthalmic Technician position at Midwest Cornea Associates?
Midwest Cornea Associates (MCA) is a part of the Midwest Eye Institute. MCA is seeking a part-time or full-time Ophthalmic Technician who is passionate about patient care to join our busy, well-established cornea practice. This candidate will help the team provide exceptional patient care.
Tasks:
- Working up clinical patients including taking a patient’s history, checking vision, intraocular pressure, and completing ordered testing and then documenting appropriately in EMR.
- Assists the physician in the exam and procedures.
- Scribing in EMR during the physician’s examination of a patient in order to improve the efficiency of the clinic's operations.
- Facilitate patient flow and provide excellent patient care.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in ophthalmology, optometry, or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of anatomy of the eye.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations for patient privacy protection.
- Ability to instill eye drops accurately for patients during exams.
- Experience with electronic health record systems.
- Experience with uploaded patient information into patient charts.
- Critical thinking skill are essential.
