Responsibilities

- Perform routine and specialized laboratory procedures, including sectioning, staining, and mounting of tissue samples.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and safety protocols to prevent contamination.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis.
- Maintain accurate records of specimens, including patient information and laboratory results.
- Assist in the training of new staff or interns in laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Stay current with advancements in histology practices and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Experience
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting is preferred, with a focus on histology or pathology.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology is essential for understanding tissue samples.
- Familiarity with phlebotomy techniques is a plus.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mohs Histology Technician to join our growing practice.
Job Summary: The Mohs Histology Technician will be responsible for preparing, processing, and staining tissue specimens during Mohs surgery procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in histology techniques, including tissue embedding, sectioning, and staining, along with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, process, and embed tissue specimens for Mohs micrographic surgery.
- Perform routine and special stains on tissue samples.
- Assist with sectioning and mounting of tissue specimens for Mohs slides.
- Operate and maintain histology equipment, including microtomes, cryostats, and other related instruments.
- Accurately label and track specimens to ensure proper identification and handling.
- Work closely with the Mohs surgeon and clinical staff to ensure smooth workflow during surgery procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized lab spaces in accordance with OSHA and CLIA regulations.
- Follow established protocols for safety, quality control, and infection control.
- Ensure proper documentation of all procedures and patient information.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in histotechnology, biology, or related field preferred).
- Certification as a Histologic Technician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience working as a Mohs Histology Technician or in a similar histology-related role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of histology techniques and laboratory safety standards.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
