Job Description

A Shared Living Provider is responsible for offering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive home environment to individuals with developmental disabilities. This position aims to promote independence, personal growth, and community integration for these individuals by providing daily care, support, empathy, and companionship.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide a Safe and Supportive Home: Offer a stable and welcoming living environment where individuals with developmental disabilities can thrive.

Personal Care Assistance: Assist individuals with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation, while promoting independence to the extent possible.

Medication Management: Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate records of medication administration.

Behavioral Support: Implement behavior support plans and strategies to address challenging behaviors, focusing on positive reinforcement and communication techniques.

Skill Development: Create opportunities for individuals to acquire and enhance life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene, tailored to their abilities and goals.

Community Integration: Facilitate community participation and inclusion by organizing outings, recreational activities, and social interactions.

Health Monitoring: Monitor and report any changes in an individual's health status or emotional well-being to the appropriate professionals or agency.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of daily activities, incidents, and progress toward individual goals. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and reporting requirements.

Communication: Regularly communicate with support teams, including case managers, therapists, and healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated care.

Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and interests of individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their needs are met and that they have a voice in decisions affecting their lives.

Crisis Management: Handle emergency situations calmly and effectively, following established protocols and ensuring the safety of the individual.

Training and Development: Stay up-to-date with training and certification requirements.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require a bachelor's degree in a related field).

Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Certification in CPR and First Aid.

Ability to pass background checks and meet all state and agency-specific requirements.

Compassion, patience, and empathy.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge of Nebraska's DD service regulations and guidelines is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $3,500.00 - $8,500.00 per month

Experience:

  • Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Columbus, NE: Relocate before starting work (Required)
