The Site Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safety and health of all employees, contractors, and visitors at our project sites. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures to comply with local, state, and federal regulations. 

 

  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and programs.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Creates and maintains JHAs and HASPs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Provide OSHA, DOT, and EPA safety training and education to employees and contractors.
  • Perform random and scheduled inspections on safety tools and equipment.
  • Assess current safety technology and equipment for reliability and effectiveness.
  • Manage, monitor, and build fleet/GPS software to manage and track leading and lagging safety indicators.
  • Creates and presents reports from the fleet/GPS software platforms to share with managers.
  • Manages third party safety compliance sites.
  • Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities and incidents.
  • Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to promote a culture of safety.
  • Monitor and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Stay up to date with industry’s best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE and/or Experience:

  • Five years of experience in Safety Compliance program management, preferred.
  • Extensive experience working with OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, and EPA/RCRA compliance.

  • Experience collaborating with clients in industries such as manufacturing, petrochemical, food processing, or heavy industry.
  • Knowledge of environmental/industrial cleaning equipment and techniques (e.g., pressure washing, tank cleaning, hazardous waste disposal).
  • Experience with permitting compliance.
  • Proficiency in leading a company’s environmental management system.
  • Ability to develop and present training and compliance programs.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental or science-related field, or equivalent experience.   
  • CSP
  • OSHA 10 Hour
  • Hazwoper 40 hour
  • Valid Driver's license

 

 

Physical Requirements:

Work is typically performed in an indoor office environment; however, this position will frequently work in a plant/warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit or stand, walk, talk, and listen; occasionally, the employee may occasionally have to stoop, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds. Employees need manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment and a personal computer, clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities to discern verbal instructions and to communicate effectively with others and visual acuity to comprehend written work instructions and review, evaluate, and prepare a variety of written materials and documents. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these functions.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor office environment, with some telecommuting. Employees primarily work in an office environment, but occasionally exposed to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles in the warehouse/plant areas when completing safety inspections. May be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, chemicals, mechanical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Employees may interact with staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Day Shift · Monday – Friday
  • Occasional Overtime
  • Some weekends and holidays may be required.

 

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

  • 20 - 30% travel
  • Perform 2-3 Safety Audits per week
  • Travel to other Midwest locations - Louisville, KY, and Indianapolis, IN
  • Occasional Overnight Travel
