What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator position at Midwest Filtration Co?
The Converting (Roll Goods) Department uses converting equipment to trim roll goods anywhere from 1" to 143" roll widths and convert rolls up to 56" OD. Our high-quality processes include:
- Perforating
- Laminating
- Calendering
- Printing
- High-speed slitter/rewinders (up to 143 inches)
- Custom widths, lengths and core dimensions
Scope of Position:
A Roll Media Machine Operator utilizes an assigned machine to properly design and cut filtration materials to the required customer specifications. TO be considered a Machine Operator Level 1, operator must be able to run a minimum of 2 machines independently as the main operator.

Responsibility:
- A Machine Operator I has mastered and can independently operate a minimum of 2 plant Roll Media Machines without the guidance or direction of others.
- Reads router/drawing or customer order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.
- Selects, positions, and secures tool in toolholder (chuck, collet, or toolpost).
- Positions and secures material in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
- Moves controls to position tool and material in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
- Sets up fixture or feeding device, starts machine, and engages feed.
- Operates machine according to instructions to produce output.
- Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined product to specifications.
- Completes all necessary information on router to report production.
- Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
- Other projects and duties as may be assigned.

- Actively participates in the Production Process which has been identified as a Key Process
- Assist in development of any ISO related policies/procedures for your function.

Physical Requirements
- The ability to stand for the duration of the scheduled shift.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull materials on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to lift and or carry up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and may be required to assist as a team in maneuvering materials upwards of 100 pounds occasionally.
Qualifications/Competencies:
- Basic Language Skills. Must be able to read and understand directions in English.
- Mathematical Skills: Must have basic mathematical skills including the ability to utilize measuring tools and calculate proper measurements of materials.
- Prior experience running complex machinery in a manufacturing environment.

- Quality > 99%
- Productivity > 85% on time order completion
