Objective / Accountability:
The Maintenance Technician HVAC is responsible for safely and effectively repairing and maintaining the HVAC systems essential to the production of plants in our nurseries and company-owned facilities and properties. This role will also assist in other maintenance related activities as needed
Function / Corresponding Tasks:
Provide support and maintenance of HVAC
- Repair and maintain HVAC equipment such as unit heaters and residential systems
- Ability and understand how to troubleshoot, diagnose problems and repair equipment in a timely manner.
- Ability to learn and understand the function and intended use of company equipment.
- Safely and effectively conduct preventative and pre/post season maintenance of assigned equipment
- Report to Facilities Manager regularly all related activities, findings, problems and for direction.
Provide maintenance and construction support for projects and problem resolution
- Ability to learn and understand, and be comfortable with repairs, maintenance, and construction of basic 110V and 24V electrical systems.
- Ability to learn and understand greenhouse space heaters, provide repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Ability to learn and understand plumbing and irrigation systems throughout the nursery, provide repairs, maintenance and construction support as needed
Company support and personal growth
- Learn and understand our irrigations systems to help as needed and serve as backup subject matter expert.
- Assist Maintenance Department on construction projects and the maintenance of the facilities and grounds.
- Responsible for determining and achieving individual goals, and working toward personal and professional growth, while supporting the department, company and industry.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- understanding of HVAC systems.
- Exceptional work ethic reinforced by strong organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
- Conspicuous problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in basic computer skills. E.g.- Outlook, Word, etc.
- Reliable transportation
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Skills / Abilities:
- Understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
- Capacity to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, service manuals, electrical schematics, blueprints and work orders.
- Have or be able to obtain EPA certification.

- Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Able to quickly learn and independently develop a broad technical knowledge of relevant and processes.
- As necessary, be able to work 40 hours per week, including Saturdays, and able to work unscheduled times to complete tasks on time with minimal interruption to the operation.
- Be occasional after-hour work needed, if emergency repairs are needed, for heaters, pumps, etc.
- Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, work occasionally in hot or cold environments.
Education / Experience Pre-requisites:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Any combination of documented training and/or real-life experience with mechanical systems and processes.
