What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operator position at Midwest Groundcovers LLC?
Objective / Accountability:
To safely and efficiently operate all powered loading equipment up to the largest loaders. As needed, will work in other capacities to assist the team in accomplishing overall needs of the customers and company.
Function / Corresponding Tasks:
Ability to be flexible with work hours to meet customer and seasonal needs including weekends.
Handle raw materials and finished products such as piling, turning, loading into hoppers, loading trucks.
Must be able to operate the following equipment efficiently and safely
- Various Size rubber-tired loaders
- Skid steers
- Trommel Screens
- Small tractor for tilling and mowing
- Grinder
- Pine Line
Maintenance/equipment
- Daily fluid level checks
- Daily inspections and safety checks on equipment
- Daily and periodic greasing
- Lubricant changes at required intervals
- Tire pressure checks
- Keep equipment in good safe clean condition
- Fuel daily
- Report and mechanical or unsafe issue to the supervisor
Loading trucks
- Load trucks of various sizes with various materials and quantities
- Windrow materials as needed and turn as specified
- Feed ancillary equipment such as bulk hoppers, grinder, etc.
- Bucket blend materials as directed
- Assist in keeping areas clean
Facilities
- Level and back drag areas as needed
- Inventory control
- Facility cleanliness
- Other as directed by Supervisor

Safety
- Maintain a safe working environment for self, other employees and customers.

Required Skills:
- Safely operate powered equipment such as: fork lift, skid steer, large bucket loader.
Knowledge of proper general maintenance of equipment. - Ability to work well with others

Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience and Pre-requisites:
- 6 months operating front end loader and forklift
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs
- Work outside in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold
- Be able to work up to 12 hours a day; including weekends
