OBJECTIVE / ACCOUNTABILITY
The objective of the Order Puller role is to provide excellent external and internal customer service by ensuring the highest quality plants are efficiently and safely delivered to customers. This involves accurately pulling plants from the nursery, maintaining quality control standards, and ensuring safe handling of equipment and materials. Success in this role is measured by customer satisfaction, accuracy in pulling, adherence to safety and quality standards, and operational efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Order Fulfillment
- Build customer orders by selecting the best quality plants from the nursery.
- Use puller sheets to identify and locate current inventory.
- Safely and efficiently load plants onto Can Carriers and shipping racks, ensuring proper placement for the assigned truck or customer vehicle.
- Return completed puller sheets to the Order Fulfillment Coordinator.
- Quality Control
- Inspect plants to ensure they meet quality standards before shipping.
- Verify the accuracy of plant quantities for each order.
- Notify Inventory Coordinator or QA team of any discrepancies or quality concerns.
- Equipment Knowledge and Maintenance
- Operate equipment with a current Midwest Groundcovers permit.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on assigned equipment.
- Safely handle shipping racks and use label guns for labeling systems.
- Safety Compliance
- Attend bi-weekly “Tailgate” safety training classes and annual safety training sessions.
- Adhere to posted warning signs and report any unsafe conditions or acts to the supervisor.
- Personal Development and Team Goals
- Set and achieve individual goals that support department and company objectives.
- Participate in department meetings and company events.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to safely operate a can carrier.
- Competence in reading and identifying plant names.
- Strong commitment to teamwork and customer service.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCES
- Basic English reading and speaking skills preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Flexibility to work 40 hours per week, including Saturdays.
