Description
Purpose:
Performs set-ups, reconditioning, basic service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment. Will work with direction or guidance from the Service Manager or senior technicians. Consistently exhibits Midwest Machinery Company’s core purpose and values.
Responsibilities:
- Performs set-ups and reconditioning of company owned equipment
- Participates in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
- Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
- Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
- Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
- Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
- Accounts for all time on a timecard and for all material used in performing assigned duties
- Interacts in a positive and respectful manner with customers and fellow employees
- Actively assists in recruiting service work
- Shares knowledge and skills with other company technicians
- Assists other technicians as assigned to increase total shop productivity
- Maintains and promotes a safe work environment. Demonstrates understanding of and ability to follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
- No technician experience or formal training/education required
- Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manuals
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- Ability to use a forklift/skid loader
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Required tools and training will be provided
Physical and Mental and Other Requirements:
- Frequent bending and stooping
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. frequently
- Standing for extended periods of time
- Occasional work outdoors in extreme heat or cold, rain or snow
- Occasional work on ladders
- Occasional work in confined spaces
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends
- Valid drivers license with an insurable driving record required
- Must pass a pre-employment background study
