Ready to join in? We are looking for a full-time Medical Secretary to join our team in Chicago, IL near the Illinois Medical District. This role will be responsible for floating between physician offices to provide coverage as needed. The ideal candidate will exhibit high standards, excellent communication and multi-tasking skills, exceptional time-management and organization capabilities, and have an ability to take initiative.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Functions as a liaison between patients, physician practices, internal departments, hospitals and other organizations.
- Close collaboration with the physician and staff.
- Prepares the charts for clinic day.
- Interface with surgery scheduler as needed.
- Educates patients on the logistics of surgery; location, time, what to bring and how to prepare.
- Completes correspondence including faxing, mailing, work comp reports, draft letters, and maintenance of medical appointment schedules for the practice.
- Responsible for assisting to organize any meetings, private records reviews and depositions for assigned physician.
- Represents physicians by screening incoming telephone calls; recording and transmitting messages; receiving/announcing scheduled attorneys, salespeople and/or visitors. Screen potential patients and visitors; arranging referrals to other health care providers; scheduling appointments for consultations, x-rays, lab tests, physical therapy, MRI's, CT scans, etc.
- Organize and maintain the practice calendar.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills within the team and to patients
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, emphasis on word, excel, and outlook.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment including problem solving, decision making, strategic thinking, planning, and communication.
- Superior organization skills
- Flexible and readily available
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Pay Range: $21- $25 per hour.Compensation at MOR is determined by many factors, which may include but are not limited to, job-related skills and level of experience, education, certifications, geographic location, market data and internal equity. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
