Full-time position, Monday - Friday 9:30am - 6pm
Onsite training for 6 - 12 weeks is required
JOB TITLE: Scheduler
LOCATION OR DEPARTMENT: Centralized Scheduling Department
EXEMPT STATUS/GRADE: Non-Exempt/13
REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Scheduling
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None
SUMMARY OF POSITIONS: Responsible for scheduling exams with patients and referring clinics. This position consists of clerical work, which includes multiple task involvement using phone, computer, and paperwork.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Promptly answer phones, schedule exams, direct calls, take messages and educate patients and referring clinics on exam procedures and instructions.
Obtain and update patient demographics and maintain patient confidentiality.
Obtain and maintain medical records in document management.
Obtain orders for exams that are scheduled.
Work with radiologists, clinic staff, referring clinics and patients on scheduling issues.
Confirm patient appointments with staff, referring clinics and/or patients.
Able to work independently and as a team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
H.S graduate or equivalent required.
Minimum of 1-year HUC, scheduling or related medical setting experience required.
Radiology scheduling experience preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required.
Excellent customer service/patient care and decision-making skills required.
Ability to prioritize tasks; detailed-oriented, work independently and on a team required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective communication with patients, referring clinics, employees, supervisors and the radiologists required.
Must be competent in using a computer keyboard, email and medical scheduling systems.
Demonstrate knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure a safe work environment

DAILY PHYSICAL DEMANDS REQUIRED FOR PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Requires prolonged sitting; some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to prepare, assemble and communicate appropriate information.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office/clinic environment. It involves frequent telephone contact with patients, physicians, and office personnel.
The department is busy and fast paced, being able to deal well in this type of environment and stay on task is necessary to best serve our referring clinics and patients.
Low-Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood products, bodily fluids and/or hazardous materials common to a radiology setting.
Low-Potential exposure to ionizing radiation exams rooms and/or involved in the use of ionizing radiation common to a radiology setting.
