What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Therapist position at Midwest Refuah Health Center?
Midwest Refuah Health Center (MRHC) is seeking a Music Therapist to join its mental health clinic. In this role, you will work with clients individually and in group settings, utilizing music-based interventions to support mental health and emotional well-being. You will collaborate closely with the behavioral health team to develop treatment plans, assess progress, and contribute to an integrated care approach.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group music therapy sessions tailored to client needs.
- Utilize evidence-based music interventions to promote emotional regulation, cognitive function, and social skills.
- Assess, evaluate, and document client progress.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including therapists, social workers, and medical providers, to ensure holistic care.
- Participate in case consultations and clinical team meetings.
- Complete all assigned paperwork accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner, including grant-related documentation if required.
- Provide supervision or mentorship to interns as assigned.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Music Therapy or a related field.
- Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) through the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
- Illinois licensure (or eligibility for licensure) as required for music therapists.
- Experience providing therapeutic services in mental health settings preferred.
- Strong understanding of evidence-based therapeutic interventions in music therapy.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication.
- Cultural sensitivity, particularly toward the Orthodox Jewish community.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload independently and adapt therapy techniques to various populations.
