What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Midwest Renewable Energy LLC?
Department: Grains, shipping and material handling.
Work Schedule: Regularly scheduled Monday - Friday, Day shift. Must be available for overtime work and/or on a call‐in basis as required. Plant is operational 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week.
Pay: Minimum pay of $17.00 to $21.00 depending on prior experience.
Full or Part‐Time: Full Time.
Midwest Renewable Energy (MRE) serves the changing world of ethanol production from agricultural feed stock to a distilled 200 proof final product - ethanol. MRE distributes products based on customer needs big and small and has a growing portfolio to meet the growing demands of exciting new markets. MRE provides distributors and end users with spec grade alcohol to enhance their application’s performance, stability and earn repeat customers – while delivering capacity at the right time and the right price. MRE also provides co-products to help local farmers and co-ops such as wet distillers grains and corn oil and syrup.
Material Handling:
- Load trucks with WDGS, ethanol, distiller’s syrup using meters or scales as required to assure timely delivery of products.
- Complete all paperwork and BOL’s.
- Load railcars with product as necessary.
- Housekeeping and general maintenance.
- Grade and load grain according to MRE’s corn procurement policy.
- Communicate inventory and quality control.
- Ensure grain is available to operations personnel at all times.
- Assist trucks in corn unloading as needed as well as unloading supply trucks at the plant.
- Complete grading of corn.
- Assist other personnel as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Complete any and all tasks assigned by the Plant Manager.
- Promote MRE in the community.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- No experience necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in truck loading and unloading, rail tank car loading, skid loader and fork truck experience helpful.

Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Physical and Workplace Requirements:
- Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders; work at high elevations and in extreme temperatures.
- Open and close valves.
- Walking of two or more miles per day; work in confined spaces.
- Use specialty electrical and instrument tools as well as drill press, welder, grinder, hand tools, etc.
- Lift, move and/or carry up to 50#.
- Standing for extended periods of time, often 5 hours at a time.
- Bending, twisting, and turning.
