The Supply Chain Analyst position focuses specifically on the supply chain activities related to manufacturing processes. This role will sit at the cross-section of Finance and Operations partnering closely with procurement, operations, and finance.
Specific KPI’s Critical to the Success of Position:
1. Inventory Reduction: Optimize inventory levels by reducing excess stock while ensuring the availability of key items. Analyze data and collaborate across teams to minimize holding costs and improve inventory turnover.
2. Inventory Strategy: Cycle Counting & Reclassification: Implement cycle counting programs to enhance inventory accuracy and detect discrepancies. Utilize inventory classification methods (e.g., ABC analysis) and reclassification strategies to align stock with business priorities.
3. Standardized Supply Chain Reporting: Develop automated dashboards and reporting tools to provide real-time insights on KPIs.
Job Duties:
Supply Chain Data Analysis:
· Collect and analyze data related to the production process, raw materials, inventory, and shipping to identify inefficiencies or areas of improvement.
· Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) like cycle time, lead times, inventory turnover, and production efficiency.
Production Planning & Scheduling:
· Collaborate with production teams to develop and implement production schedules that align with demand forecasts.
· Ensure that the production process runs smoothly by monitoring raw material availability, production capacity, and workforce needs.
Inventory Management:
· Track and manage raw materials, components, and finished goods inventory to ensure adequate stock without overstocking.
· Work with warehouse teams to optimize storage and inventory turnover.
· Forecast material needs based on production schedules and market demand.
Demand Forecasting:
· Analyze historical sales data and work with other departments (e.g., sales, marketing) to forecast future demand.
· Ensure that manufacturing operations are aligned with the forecasted demand to avoid supply shortages or excess inventory.
Supplier and Vendor Management:
· Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials needed for production.
· Monitor supplier performance (e.g., delivery times, quality of goods) and communicate issues with procurement teams.
· Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to optimize cost and delivery times.
Logistics Coordination:
· Coordinate the transportation of materials and products between suppliers, manufacturers, and distribution centers.
· Optimize logistics routes and transportation methods to reduce lead times and transportation costs.
· Work with logistics teams to handle shipping, receiving, and distribution to ensure the timely availability of goods for production.
Production Efficiency & Process Improvement:
· Identify bottlenecks in the manufacturing supply chain and recommend solutions to improve production flow.
· Propose and implement continuous improvement strategies such as Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma to reduce waste and enhance efficiency.
Risk Management:
· Assess potential risks in the supply chain, such as material shortages, delays, or disruptions, and develop contingency plans.
· Work with other teams to implement risk mitigation strategies, ensuring smooth manufacturing operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
· Collaborate with teams across various departments like procurement, production, logistics, and quality control to ensure smooth coordination and communication.
· Work closely with the manufacturing team to align production processes with the availability of raw materials and components.
Reporting & Documentation:
· Develop and present regular reports on key manufacturing supply chain metrics, such as lead times, production costs, and on-time delivery.
· Maintain records and documentation related to inventory levels, supplier contracts, and production schedules.
Technology & Software Use:
· Use supply chain management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and manufacturing resource planning systems (MRP) to track and manage production processes and inventory.
· Stay up to date with new manufacturing technologies and software to improve the efficiency of the supply chain.
Cost Control & Budgeting:
· Help track and manage the costs associated with manufacturing and supply chain operations.
· Suggest strategies for cost reduction, including negotiating better terms with suppliers or identifying areas where production processes can be streamlined.
Compliance & Quality Control:
· Ensure that all materials and components used in manufacturing meet regulatory and quality standards.
· Work with the quality control team to ensure finished products meet required specifications before shipment.
· Supports and promotes adherence to company policies, continuous improvement procedures, quality standards, and safety procedures.
· Communicate all necessary information and updates with managers, supervisors and employees as needed.
· Other duties as assigned by the department manager.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field along with a minimum of 4 - 6 years of related work experience.
· Strong proficiency in designing, automating, and maintaining data-driven reports and dashboards to monitor supply chain performance. Ability to analyze complex datasets and present insights in a clear, actionable format.
· Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance, demonstrating initiative in identifying areas for improvement and implementing innovative solutions to meet supply chain goals.
· Exceptional interpersonal skills to establish and nurture positive relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams. Capable of fostering effective communication and teamwork to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
· Knowledge of manufacturing processes, inventory management, and logistics.
· Strong analytical skills to assess data and identify inefficiencies with the ability to exercise business judgment and effectively communicate with management.
· Familiarity with supply chain management software (e.g., Business Central, SAP, Oracle, MRP systems).
