Responsibilities: Provide supervision and training for adults with Autism, developmental disabilities and multiple physical disabilities in all aspects of services in day training and habilitation program:
- Implement individualized program plan for persons in assigned group. Assist persons served with their personal needs as necessary, including using the bathroom, eating, putting on coats, etc.
- Plan activities and supervise individuals and small groups within the center and on community outings to stores, restaurants, etc. May also include supervising program participants in center-based and community-based work groups.
- Assist program participants with developing and using a functional communication system to communicate needs and interact with others. Utilize technology and adaptive equipment to increase each person’s independent functioning.
- Pass medications and drive people to and from the center and community sites.
Hours, Benefits: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Mon- Fri; full time. No evenings or weekends. Competitive wages. Benefits include health, life and disability insurance, paid holidays and PTO and a 401K pension plan. AA/EEO Employer. MSS provides all training for a commercial driving license as applicable.
Qualifications
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Must accurately read and implement individual plans, medication instructions etc. Must accurately record behavior of persons served and complete required forms. Must relate well with people with disabilities and with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
Must be qualified for employment in a Day Services Facility as determined by the MN DHS. Must pass other background checks as required by MSS. and/or state and federal law.
Must be able to lift and transfer adults with physical disabilities, using mechanical lifts and other methods identified as appropriate for a participant.
Must have/maintain a valid driver’s license and must have/secure a Passenger Assistance Certificate within 6 months of hire. Must obtain/maintain a DOT medical card. Must have a clean driving record and be insurable under the conditions set by our insurance carrier. Must pass a drug screen.
Note: Preference will be given to a candidate with a background in working with people who have a diagnosis of Autism, have a history working with assistive technology, or a background in adaptive recreation or art.
