Reports To: Material Handling and/or Vessel Supervisor

Schedule: Midwest Terminals operates 24/7 365 days a year. Employee schedules can range from 8-12 hour shifts depending on workloads and arrival schedules. When a vessel arrives and it will take several days to unload, we run two 12-hour shifts until the vessel is unloaded. Some employees will be moved to the night shift during those days. Weekends are also scheduled during the shipping season.

Job Duties:

· Safely move materials to and from vessels, barges, railcars, trucks, and warehouses.

· Ground maintenance tasks such as painting, cleaning, organizing, fueling equipment, washing equipment etc.

· Perform general labor and other material handling duties as assigned.

· Perform all functions in accordance with operation and safety guidelines

· Maintain regular communication with supervisors and co-workers to ensure that the correct materials are moved at the right time and to the correct location

Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or GED required

· Valid Driver’s License required

· Ability to perform basic mathematical operations

· General understanding of material handling and equipment operations (training provided)

· Promote safe work habits

· Ability to work well as part of a team to achieve job objectives efficiently.

· Must be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential)

· Ability to work outside in all weather conditions including heat, humidity, rain, snow and cold

· Physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. regularly

· Able to perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, stooping, standing, and reaching

· Must pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing, as part of our drug-free workplace policy.
