Responsible for oversight of stakeholder strategies and engagement to improve donation of organs and tissues with a focus on hospital, medical examiner and funeral home relationships.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Charged with driving growth and success as it relates to hospital services, medical examiner offices and funeral homes, in coordination with the Strategic Plan.
- Guides designated staff toward accomplishment of MTN’s Mission and goals; including training and development, coaching and counseling.
- Participates in the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, counseling, performance reviews, discipline, and termination, if necessary, of staff within the designated area.
- Guides development of strategies to engage physicians and hospital staff at all levels
- Guides development of strategies to engage and support medical examiner and funeral home staff.
- Maintains professional relationships and rapport with management, medical, hospital, and ancillary staffs within and outside of the organization.
- Responsible for budget development and monitoring for hospital services.
- Participates as member of leadership team to promote a team environment and culture to support integrated approaches organization wide to achieve goals.
- Promotes the Mission and goals of MTN by participating in associations and programs aimed at maximizing the organ and tissue recovery and transplantation.
- Maintains current knowledge, to include regulatory agencies, through participation in NATCO, ABTC, AOPO and CMS.
- Fosters an organizational culture based on collaboration, support and feedback.
HOSPITAL SERVICES
- Works with leadership to establish and implement a hospital service plan targeting hospitals throughout the service area that meet guidelines and standards.
- Develops methods and tools to assess donor potential and prioritize hospital service efforts.
- Assists in assigning hospital accounts to coordinators based on capabilities, the best use of available resources, and the needs of the organization.
- Assists the staff in developing action plans for each hospital tailored to the needs of the hospital.
- Works with Director, Community Engagement and Public Relations to ensure the development of educational materials for presentations, in-services, seminars and meetings utilized in the hospital environment are consistent with the MTN brand.
- Collaborates with satellite Directors to ensure consistency in hospital services policy and procedure, support and initiatives.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Undergraduate degree in biological or social sciences or a degree in an equivalent field of study required. Master’s degree preferred. RN or other allied health certification desired.
- Five or more years of experience as an HSC or a combination of experience and education providing equivalent knowledge required. Previous OPO experience preferred.
- A minimum of one year of supervision of professional staff required. Three years is preferred.
- Proven ability to lead a team, coordinate internal and external resources and achieve measurable results against goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational, problem analysis and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to motivate peers and achieve cooperation.
- Microsoft office proficiency required.
- Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and remain available for 24-hour telephone support for Hospital Services staff. Required to work for extended periods of time with few breaks.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy. Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines. Must be able to travel within the service area by ground or air.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances.
- Possess ability to operate telephones, computers and surgical equipment.
- Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information to constituents and colleagues in person or by phone.
- OSHA Category III – No exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties.
- Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
