Pharmacy Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Job Summary:    

 Verify, pack and ship product as indicated on the clinic order and consistent with policies in the Employee Handbook, including the safety policies.                                              

Essential Job Functions:  

• Verify that items in designated containers are identical to the clinic order displayed on the computer; verify manufacturer product code, size, strength or dosage, and packaging specifics.  Check for and remove damaged and outdated product from the designated container, move materials.
• Pack orders promptly and correctly by following established packaging standards, add necessary documentation and markings on boxes which may include special shipping instructions and hazardous material labels.  Ensure that the proper paperwork is enclosed.
• Process the packages of the order using a scale that will weigh and create labels for the packages.  Verify the created labels for proper ship-to address, and attach them to the proper boxes in the correct position and orientation and place the packages for transfer to the staging area.
• Support the overall packing department function as directed, which may include: sweeping or straightening packaging work stations, pre-making boxes, cleaning carts, breaking down cardboard boxes, monitoring packaging supplies, rotating ice, and/or cleaning work areas.  
• Assist co-workers when able, which may include processing additional orders from other pack stations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

• Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) 
• No experience required
• Ability to read, write and speak English
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Basic computer skills, ability to operate a Windows-based computer and data entry
• Ability to differentiate details related to product codes and descriptions (such as verifying a string of numbers)
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages.
• Ability to work well with others and independently

• Regularly lift/move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 70 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
• Ability to climb ladders/stairs, balance, stand/walk on concrete floor for extended periods
• Bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching

Equipment Used:

Windows based computer, tape gun, safety knife, 2-way radio, safety equipment, markers, label equipment, packaging materials

Work Environment:

Work will be performed indoors in a relatively temperature-controlled climate where moderate heat, cold or humidity may be experienced.  Moderate exposure to dust and dirt may also be expected. Work will typically be performed Monday through Friday.  Working more than 40 hours per workweek may be required.
