Department: Communications - Institutional Relations
FLSA Status: Salary - Exempt
JOB PURPOSE
To support the vision and mission of Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College by effectively managing communications projects, providing excellent customer service for communications clients, and giving administrative support to the Office of Communications team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Create and maintain systems and actions that lead to successful project initiation and completion, working to ensure that deadlines are met, and desired outcomes are achieved.
- Help provide clarity on vision and project direction as a liaison between the client and internal Communications team members
- Receive initial project request, process desired goals and outcomes, and work with VP of Communications to approve or decline project
- Provide excellent customer service to clients and project leads, ensuring projects are moving forward in a timely, efficient and effective manner.
- Develop a robust understanding of the communications project management system (ASANA) and use it to organize, triage, and execute projects
- Build and maintain strong and healthy client and vendor relations to complete projects involving printing, framing, giveaways, etc.
- Perform other customer service relates responsibilities such as front desk management, answering phone calls, overseeing the Communications email address, and receive and greet visitors
- Manage and oversee the Communications budget and all office expenses including processing invoices and credit card reconciliation
- Assist with managing the calendar and email of the Vice President of Communications
- Organize the office and workroom and help maintain a professional atmosphere
- Other duties as assigned by the VP of Communications such as assistant with email marketing, creating basic web page content, and scheduling office team meetings

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm
- Some travel, including overnight stays in support of off-campus events may be required
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Include, but not limited to:
- Christian with high integrity, actively pursuing a relationship with God
- A Bachelor’s degree in communications or business preferred
- 2-5 years of project management experience preferred
- Familiarity with project management technologies and systems
- Skill in budget preparation and meeting deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Express enthusiasm at work; genuinely friendly and approachable.
- Able to multi-task, analyze workload, and prioritize as necessary for the benefit of the department
- Must possess a strong attention to detail
- Able to take the initiative to complete the duties of the position without the need of direct supervision.
- Able to learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency.
- Must be able to work independently, as well as a part of a team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequently required to sit or stand for periods of time at desk or computer station
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Able lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
