MCC has a position open for a Dental Assisting Adjunct Instructor.
Please note this is not a remote position. This is a hybrid course and on campus presence is required.

About the Dental Assisting Adjunct position: You’ll be teaching assigned courses that will prepare students for appropriate certifications.
Location: Evergreen Park, Illinois
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Deliver the curriculum based on specific dental-related content to meet the needs of adult learners and assist them to successfully obtain appropriate certifications.
- Report to Dean and works closely with Director of Academic Operations to improve quality of instruction, curriculum, and other academic requirements.
- Evaluate and revise the curriculum to meet accreditation standards, and state and governmental regulations.
- Address the needs of the students by provide a stimulating environment that encourages students' participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
- Use instruction time to gain insights into students' current circumstances and goals.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Dean of Certificate Programs
Education and/or Experience:
- Must be a graduate from an accredited dental assisting school with formal training in dental assisting techniques and procedures and possess work experience in chair-side dental assisting.
- Must have valid and current credentials as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) by the Dental Assisting National Board or AMT.
- Must have at least 5 years of clinical or teaching experience in the Dental Assisting profession.
- Associate Degree appropriate to the field
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred, not required.
Knowledge, Skills, abilities:
- Instructor must possess the ability to work within a diverse student population of different socioeconomic status and educational backgrounds.
- Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite and other technology is required.
- Demonstrate time management, flexibility, and attentiveness to detail.
- Experience using multiple approaches to teaching and learning, such as incorporating technology, service learning, contextualized instruction, multiple levels, universal design for learning, or other research-based and innovative approaches that support increased student success.
- Provide chair-side and other assistance to students in performing routine and surgical procedures including preparing equipment and areas for dental procedures.
- Assist patients receiving treatment in the clinic in a polite and professional manner this includes assisting them with instructions and screening appointments.
- Arrange equipment, pre-tray setups, dental materials and supplies, and patient’s records.
- Inventory of supplies and materials and order as necessary to ensure the areas are always equipped.
- Make certain that all units/stations are prepared for patient treatment meeting OSHA requirements.
- Obtain digital x-rays, processes, and mounts dental radiographs as requested.
- Prepare, organize, and pack instruments for sterilization.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish rapport within the campus community.
- Ability to develop and complete projects with minimal supervision.
- Adherence to institutional standard of conduct within internal and external environments affiliated with the institution.
Physical Demands:
- Instructor is required to stand for longer than usual periods of time.
- The instructor must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, to include supplies and equipment.

Pay: $28.21 - $33.97 per hour
Expected hours: 9 – 18 per week
