Midwestern Electric is seeking a Project Manager to become a member of our Estimating / Project Management department at our Indianapolis location. We currently specialize in highway lighting, ITS system installation and maintenance, temporary and permanent traffic signals and high voltage electrical work.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to procuring work clientele, project managment from intiation to close, resolve issues, managment of project scope.
Solid knowledge of electrical construction costs, scheduling and management of projects is required.
Primary Responsibilities
Pre-Construction :
- Provide project leadership
- Assist with client and design team management / relationship development
- Develop, manage and coordinate construction schedule
- Assist in project strategy and implementation
- Coordinate with engineering services and other internal departments, resource coordination
- Negotiate with external vendors on contract agreements
- Develop Project Implementation Plans required by the client and the Company including construction operations plans, Activity Hazard Analysis, Risk Management Plans, Safety Plan, etc.
- Negotiate and hire subcontractors and work with engineers and architects as needed
- Keep track of an inventory of equipment and materials
- Obtain appropriate permits and licenses from authorities for construction sites
During Construction :
Oversee construction project(s) from beginning to endManage master budget and project budgetDetermine the necessary equipment, materials, and manpower neededKeep track of inventory, tools, and equipmentEnsure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to scheduleOversee STRICT implementation of all applicable safety protocolsPrepare reports regarding job status and resolve any problems that ariseContinuously evaluate risks involved in implementation of every aspect of the jobTrain and mentor construction workers depending on the size of the projectCollaborate with subcontractors, engineers, architects and key team members of the project teamEnsure all deadlines are metHire subcontractors and union staffDelegate responsibilitiesAllocate and manage resources to ensure that they are available when they are needed throughout the construction projectsKeep General Manager aware of progress on projects and prepare progress reports regularlyEnsure timely submittals and billingHandle any environmental or local community issues that may come up during a projectPost Construction :
Collate and timely deliver all necessary close-out documentation to clientEnsure timely commissioning and end-user trainingEnsure smooth and cost-efficient demobilizationDepartment Responsibility :

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experiencePMP or an equivalent certification would be considered an assetProficiency in project management and estimating software programs, including ProCoreDemonstrated ability to manage / master the overall primary responsibilities of an Electrical Project ManagerProven track record of proactive approach to issues / managementTrack record of establishing, maintaining and managing budgets for construction projectsDemonstrated success in working effectively with trade partner market and A / E teamsDemonstrated understanding of electrical plans and timely response to RFP and RFI during constructionDemonstrated ability to delegate, mentor, and lead teamExcellent knowledge of construction materials and equipmentHighly organizedExcellent knowledge of relevant rules and regulations as well as quality standards and human resourcesConflict resolution and conflict management experienceAble to multitask with a strong understanding of core manager dutiesExcellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities, including negotiation skillsWorking Conditions :
